Kecak and Fire Dance

Shown in Uluwatu, Bali Indonesia, Kecak is a Balinese dance which is accompanied by a choir of seventy men and has its origin in an old ritual dance called the “Sanghyang” dance.

In this dance, a person in a state of trance communicates with the deities or ancestors. Using the dancers as a medium, the deities convey their wish in the 1930’s to include the old Indian epic Ramayana into dance.
This is the epic tale of “Rama at Sita”.

This place is walking distance from the Dreamland Beach (currently known as the New Kuta Beach). We stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. There are no establishments, bars or shops near the place for the development and construction of Pecatu Draha is still incomplete.

Tanah Lot

This is the temple that sits on large offshore rock located in Tabanan in Bali Indonesia. Tanah Lot means "Land in the Sea" in Balinese language. Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 15th century priest Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods.
See more pictures and a video after the cut.
